Some moths use echolocation to survive by avoiding predators like bats. While bats use echolocation to hunt, certain moths have evolved ways to fight back. Some moths can hear the high-pitched sounds bats make and use this to detect when a bat is nearby. They then change their flight path to escape. Other moths can make clicking sounds to confuse the bats' echolocation, making it harder for bats to find them. Some moths even use these clicks to warn bats that they taste bad, scaring the bats away. This ability helps moths stay safe in the dark while bats are hunting.
